History
Honeybaby was created as Heather's outlet for making sense of and releasing misplaced, misdirected and fantastical visions of love, devastation, ego and desire.
Along with Liz (of Kansas City's stooges-esque Emma Feel), a constant companion, aid-and-abet go-to girl; Adrian (of Lawrence's heavy rock trio Jumbo's Killcrane), a reminder that men actually do fall in love; and Ben (original Truth Cell), the man who can play anything, Heather (of Kansas City's defunct post-Sonic Youth Black Calvin) strives to create a sound that is simple, rough, heavy, bluesy and melodic in order to convey the heart with music as metaphor.
Once described as a cross between PJ Harvey and Kyuss, Honeybaby understands that in Rock there is nothing new, only those who can gather the pieces of value to speak a visceral language.
Sometimes abrasive, sometimes soft, the music is vocally and rhythmically driven with simple melodies and body-rockin soul.
Thanks to those who have, and to those who have not, because you will.
Honeybaby is based in Lawrence, Kan., but our souls are all over, baby.
