History
Novalus (pronounced: no-vah-les) consists of four native Kansans living in Lawrence, KS: Jose Terrazas, Scott Hartmann, Yuri Zupancic, and Bobby Reeves. Since conception in 2001, Novalus' primary goal has been to fuse diverse influences into a cohesive and unique rock sound.
In the summer of 2002, Jose, Scott, and Yuri joined original drummer, Justin Turner, as roommates and tenants under the gracious landlordship of James Grauerholz (literary editor, beat historian, singer/songwriter).
Beginning in 2003, Novalus joined sound engineer Rob Rebeck in recording adventures at Black Lodge Studios. Their first full length album Modern Ruins was released Spring 2006. Bobby Reeves replaced Justin as drummer shortly after and has since played in numerous shows and added his own dynamic power to the mix. After several years and millions of dismantled chord progressions, the band has managed to forge its own sound through dozens of original compositions and begun to digest some of its oversized musical ambitions.
