History:

The Roseline features the lead vocals and songwriting of Colin Halliburton who first picked up a guitar in the Spring of 2004 and in the year following, prolifically penned over 70 songs. Seeking a bigger outlet for his expanding song list, Halliburton called upon several musician friends to help him narrow down the list and record a proper album. ‘A Wall Behind It’ is the end result of this effort.
The album is rooted in both traditional and non-traditional country and folk music, occasionally flirting with rock n’ roll. Halliburton’s aim was “to make an album that combines the warmth of American Analog Set, the spaciousness of country music and the lyrical punch and percussion of Elvis Costello or Paul Simon.” ‘A Wall Behind It’ was recorded at Blacklodge Recording in Eudora, Kansas. It was engineered and co-produced by Josh Browning.

Accompanying Halliburton is a talented assembly of experienced local musicians. Ehren Starks, who has toured and recorded with the Architects, the Belles, and MC Approach, plays organ and piano. Upright bassist Paul Winn has performed with Jose PH and Pleasuremaker, among others. Drummer Joe Rankin is formerly of OK Jones and backing vocalist Julia Peterson performs regularly with her own band, the Breaks. Other musicians who appear on the recording are electric guitarist Mike Alexander of the Architects and pedal steel extraordinaire Jeff Jackson, who performs with OK Jones and Rex Hobart.
