History:

Girls with guts, balls, and a whole lotta soul are few and far between. However, you've just found one!!! Sarah Blacker was raised on a steady diet of Classic Rock, found Grunge in adolescence, and received a rush of jazz at the Berklee College of Music where she completed studies in Music Therapy. Her sound is very difficult to confine to one specific genre, but she's constantly described as a combination of Ani DiFranco, Joni Mitchell, Tracy Bonham and Ella Fitzgerald. For the lovers of poetry, impeccable songcraft, and a woman who owns each sound she makes, Sarah Blacker is a must hear, must see performer. She feels most at home on stage, and her charisma, conviction, and wit shine, as her songs serve to capture moments in time, and a way to connect to listeners of all kinds. Sarah makes sense of the world in her songs, so why not see if her songs shed light onto your world too???

She has shared the stage with Vince Welnick, Grateful Dead keyboardist; national rockers, Apollo Sunshine; Michelle Malone of Lillith Fair, Blue Duck Records' Elijah Wyman; jambands- Ulu, Big Leg Emma, and many more...

She has recorded with Dave DiCenso (Duran, Duran); Baron Browne (Brian McKnight); David Porter (Aerosmith, and guitarist for the Peacheaters); and so much more!!!

Influences:

Raised on Beatles, CSNY, Seals & Crofts, & Paul Simon. Found Wee Sing, Romper Room, Sesame Street and Bob Blue. The 80's took me to 10 yrs. dance for ballet, tap, & jazz, which brought me rhythm and fire. Piano Lessons= teacher thought I was reading music, I was really playing by ear. Musicals, the chicks with guitars, and grunge era made sense of puberty for me, and now, I listen to something different every day. Currently listening to: Pearl Jam's latest, Foo Fighters: In Your Honor acoustic, Tool's 10,000 Days, Fiona Apple's When The Pawn, and some Steve Kimock just played on my i tunes shuffle. Also the sounds of the sprinklers, the birds in the morning, and the incessant chatter which is a combination of my intuition, my ego, and my influences trying to make sense of life.
