Art Troll!

Friday, April 18, 2008

No doubt you've heard about the artist at Yale who was planning an exhibit featuring her many, many intentional miscarriages. Turns out it was fake, if you couldn't figure that out for yourself. The artist told the Yale student newspaper: "I hope it inspires some sort of discourse." Well, it certainly did that. I never thought to turn on my car and hear Lazlo and Slimfast arguing over the nature of art and expression, but there you go.

So rather than being pissed at the lady for getting herself knocked up and then aborting for the sake of art, they're pissed at her for lying to them and calling *that* art. If public outrage can be said to be a measure of a work's impact, I'd say she produced a pretty important piece, here.

Any way you look at it, though, it was a pretty epic troll, and for that, I must applaud.

Dammit. I`ve gotta be more quick on the draw.

Meaning, I was going to write about this, not that I was going to impregnate myself and miscarry repeatedly. *shudder*

I was thinking about pulling the same stunt, just last week. Can't believe someone beat me to the punch.

Did anyone hear if the starving dog art really happened? Snopes.com has it "unconfirmed".

Sova, don't be sick of art. Be sick of assholes.
This girl, she's grade A.

Dialogue my ass, people will be too appalled to be discussing anything rationally. Plus, the added benefit of taking a swing at Art and Pro-Choice makes her a bee hatch in my book.

Ensley, I know a guy who has a huge internet crush on you

It's John Krasinski isn't it.
I knew it.

>>>Jilla said: "Meaning, I was going to write about this, not that I was going to impregnate myself and miscarry repeatedly. *shudder*"<<<

>>>Jilla then went on to say "Plus, the added benefit of taking a swing at Art and Pro-Choice makes her a bee hatch in my book."<<<

Oh, okay. Abortion is only okay if the complete disregard for human life isn't overly obvious. I *think* I get it now.

...wait....what? I honestly don't follow what you're trying to say.

If you need me to be more clear...the girl is a dillhole for thinking this "artwork" will inspire dialogue. There's nothing subtle about an abortion and even pretending to use your body as a funnel just to get a rise out of people is both irresponsible and idiotic. I meant that her shennanigans will do nothing but make pro-choice and art in general look even worse. These are two issues I care about and her inconsiderate nature makes her a jackass in my book. If this were a critique, I'd tell her she failed miserably since the medium completely overshadowed any message she might have wanted to convey. I apologize if I was unclear.

I'm going to put my testicles in a jar of formaldehyde and call the piece "Bubble Tea".

I'm so more art than you.

But see, that's a public service OJ. GET IT?! HA HAHAHA.

p.s. if my bubble tea came with only two bubbles, I'd throw it in your face. EPIC FAIL.

If my name sounded like schvartz
I'd do something to blow up the arts
search my middle school mind
But all I would find -
a hanging of sloppy wet farts

Damn, Jilla, now I wish I'd held off and let you write the piece. You're both more informed and more opinionated about it than I. Ah, well.
