BREAKING NEWS: We won! We beat Memphis!! Mysterious outbursts of enthusiasm!!! Alcoholism exponentially on the rise!! Oh, oh... it's called 'camelback' ... more as we recover... ("How do I connect to the 'live feed', you ask? Wait, just a sec...)

Pardon the interruption... we are currently experiencing the most overwhelming motherf*ing sensory overload imaginable. We will resume regular reporting as soon as possible ... or as soon as our hangover wears off (whichever comes first... but then we're kinda tipsy already, so that probably doesn't make any sense...whatever, we just freaking won everything!!!!)

OK, OK...here is some video footage of downtown Lawrence gone insane after the victory!!!

Or check out the audio slideshow here!!

They took my beer!

Those four cans of Schaefer Light were worth like $1.67. I guess the cops didn't know that Schaefer is “the one beer to have when you’re having more than one” (and it was for years in the mid-20th century one of the top-selling beers in the U.S.A.—hard to find such a fine, watery taste for $4.99 a 12-pack).

Anyway, besides the fuzz confiscating my beer as I crossed the police line onto Mass. Street after the game last night, leaving me without booze except briefly during a long, hot trip inside the Jackpot (sorry Baiowolf, that was my friend flipping you off while you were doing your thing on stage—you were just so loud and screamy), I must echo the sentiments of one Matt Unger, who was so eloquently quoted in the paper this morning as saying, "Oh my God, this is awesome."

I got separated from and reunited with my breauxheims several times, but it didn't matter, everybody was a friend last night. Except the dude who launched a giant sucker punch at somebody standing next to me (the five cops standing on the other side of me were not appreciative).

At the end of the night my friends and I watched the action unfold for a while from a rooftop. And I had the thought, why don't we just do this every week? You know, everybody just head to Mass St. and have a big screamfest. Let's start on Monday night, and never stop. Free thyself from thy self-made shackles! May the mobocracy commence.

Also, let's start using some words to describe it besides "mayhem" and "madness." There are so many good ones. Bedlam, calamity, maelstrom, pandemonium...

Allow me to suggest, my breauxheim— Hamm's is a damn fine beer for $4.99 a 12er. GO HAWKS

You're all bastards.
Stay away from 10th and Indiana.

I watched the brou-ha-ha from the safety of a hotel in Merriam. (relatives visiting- didn't want to get TOO much Kansas on them)

Part of me wanted to be down there, whooping it up with the rest of the world, but the other part of me, the agoraphobic old person part of me was glad I was as far away as I was.

The kids, however, want to go downtown tomorrow night. hmm... 11 and 16, midnight on Mass with a crowd of 25,000. What could possibly go wrong??

After happening upon the aftermath of Sunday's Davidson win, I watched the game in my quiet house far away from the madness on Mass. The agoraphobic old person in me was quite content with it. The very small whooping person in me got his fill last Sunday (10 high-fives from shirtless drunk boys and 2 half-hearted woos).

But that doesn't change the fact that it was an incredibly exciting game, and I'm just as thrilled as the loud drunken hordes that we're going to the championship (as I've mentioned before, I no longer hold any ill will towards Roy). But I just don't excite easily. I don't know why. Whenever I try to act excited about something, it just comes off looking like sarcasm.

Husband & I watched game privately - not to be distracted for a minute. But with 5 minutes to go, got in vehicle and headed to Mass street - wisely (old people driving) parking 2 blocks away. It was great. People of all stripes and kinds coming together in joy. It was as if a war had ended! Sorry to hear there was a sucker punch thrown. Except for the guys eagerly trailing the (many) drunk chicks hoping to score later, most people looked like they were simply letting off steam in a happy way. Can't believe that some of the nudity happened - don't those people know about you-tube and want jobs in the future? And some of the folks who chose to drive their cars DOWN Mass street will need body work done to repair the dents.... But over-all, good fun. Sorry about your location Jilla. You may want to spend the night further away from the epicenter Monday night. Because it may happen again.

It's all good. Yeah, I almost stayed at work last night, since I had to be back in 8 hours anyway. But, all in all, I'm just glad nothing burned down....yet. heheh.

Makes the victory all the sweeter when Memphis acted like such entitled brats. Those guys were so top-heavy with ego that they were bound to fall hard.

And I've got nothing but praise for Roy and his gentlemanly awesomeness. Any lingering bad vibes out there for that guy can no longer be justified, if they ever even were.
