"Christmas on Mars" interview with The Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne, Pt. 1
Monday, June 23, 2008
Part 1 of 3: Eric has the first full-length interview with Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne following the exclusive, festival-only screenings of the new Flaming Lips movie, "Christmas on Mars."
Also included are clips from "Christmas on Mars," clips from its pre-advance trailer, and some front row footage of The Flaming Lips' amazing performance headlining that night. Eric caught up with Wayne Coyne before The Flaming Lips took the stage Friday June 6, 2008 at the Wakarusa Music Festival in Lawrence, Kansas, where The Flaming Lips set up a special circus tent, served green popcorn, and screened the new Flaming Lips movie "Christmas on Mars" for only the second time ever (the first was just one week before at the Sasquatch! Music Festival in George, Washington). Wayne Coyne talks about what inspired him to make the movie - seven years in the making - what to expect, and why he is obssessed with Christmas, Mars, and female genitalia.
Exclusive! Wayne also talks about "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots" - The Broadway play (although not in this episode-- coming up!) And yes, this exclusive video does include the opening with Wayne walking inside a giant bubble over the heads and hands of the crowd.
