Photobombers and what.. wait a sec - whose new album is that?
Wednesday, May 7, 2008
Saw this great post today featuring photobombers, aka those devoted to the fine art of ruining (or in many cases I'd say dramatically improving) people's photographs. Take for example, the dude behind my friend Mike and me in this old, sorta boozy photo:
A keeper because of crazytown! It doesn't cross my mind to jump into people's photos - If I am in any, I'd bet I'm just not paying attention and am looking absently into space, breathing through my mouth or something.
Here are a few good ones from the post:

It doesn't take much to make me happy.
Moving along - In totally unexpected album news, we received a copy of "Devil on Our Side: B-Sides and Rarities" here at the basement office. The new release byThe Anniversary out June 24th. Yeah. Wait - what?
Random and clearly by the title, the material's not exactly new, but a "new" album from them is definitley a treat for me, though unexpected to say the least. I didn't really get to see the band play more than once, unless you count that Day on the Hill (before they stopped doing it and restarted it, then stopped again), and I remember them being kind of um, less than pleased. Why was that in a parking lot again? Anyway, their albums were among those that got completely worn out during years of pizza delivery. I still like those records.
Check out the album art - I'm assuming it's their faces, but it doesn't it kind of looks like Barack Obama with a new mole? Or maybe I watched Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews for way too long last night.
So not only was this pretty much out of nowhere as far as I knew (which isn't saying much), it's even a double-disc. And for being a band that only released two albums, there's a lot of new material. There are a few repeats, but for the most part they're alternate, more raw-sounding versions of songs like "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter" and "To Never Die Young." Add in a cover or two, some on-stage banter and a few (make that many) tracks that for whatever reason didn't make the cut, and you get a chance to remember what came before The Only Children, White Flight and Dri. It's worth a look back.

I don't know if it's technically photobombing, but I know a guy who likes to pop into the background of pictures at the last minute and pose like he's one of their friends.
Butts are funny.

Haha, my husband dresses as Waldo from Where's Waldo every Halloween for this exact purpose. I bet by now he's "ruined" the photos of at least 300 sorority girls by creepily lurking in the background with those coke bottle glasses.

At a KU women's basketball game a couple years ago, my wife and I ran into saw Baby Jay in the concourse at halftime and she got somebody to snap a pic of us with Baby Jay in the middle. When we looked at the camera, there was this huge dude with a grin on his face who'd gotten behind us. It was Darnell Jackson. We turned around and he was gone.
