CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS, DECLARING A CERTAIN TWO-STORY FRONT
PORCH STRUCTURE
WITHIN THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, DOUGLAS COUNTY,
KANSAS, TO BE UNSAFE
AND DANGEROUS, DIRECTING THAT SAID STRUCTURE
BE REPAIRED OR RAZED
AND REMOVED, AND ESTABLISHING A REASONABLE TIME WITHIN WHICH
SUCH ACTION SHALL COMMENCE, ALL IN ACCORDANCE WITH K.S.A. 12-1750,
ET SEQ., AND CHAPTER V,
ARTICLE 11 OF THE CODE
OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS, 2013 EDITION, AND AMENDMENTS
THERETO.

WHEREAS, at its September 16, 2014, regular meeting, the Governing Body
passed Resolution No.
7093, wherein it recited
that, in accordance with
the Unsafe and Dangerous
Structures and Abandoned
Property Act of 1961 ("the
Act"), codified as
amended at K.S.A. 12-1750
et seq., and Chapter V, Article 11 of the Code of the
City of Lawrence, Kansas,
2013 Edition, and amendments thereto, the Enforcing Officer for the City of
Lawrence, Kansas, had
filed with the Governing
Body a written statement
averring that the two-story
front porch structure located on that real property
commonly known as 608
Kentucky Street, Lawrence, Douglas County,
Kansas, the legal description of which is set forth at
Section 2, infra, is unsafe
and dangerous; WHEREAS,
in Resolution No. 7093, in
accordance with the Act,
the Governing Body directed the owner, the
owner's agent, any
lienholder of record, and
any occupant of said
structure to appear before
it in the City Commission
Room, First Floor, 6 East
6th Street, Lawrence, Kansas, on October 28, 2014, at
6:35 p.m., to show cause
why said two-story front
porch structure should not
be condemned and
ordered repaired or demolished as an unsafe and

disguised as a dictionary
book, that was inside of a
green "platypus" backpack, that was located on
the east sofa on or about
the 29th day of September,
2014, as property subject
to forfeiture.

The $768.00 in U.S. Currency was seized at 3007
University Drive, Lawrence, Douglas County, KS
66049 from Noah
Schrader's bedroom, on or
about the 29th day of September, 2014, as property
subject to forfeiture.

The 20 grams of cocaine
was seized at 3007 University Drive, Lawrence,
Douglas County, KS 66049,
in the living room on the
bottom shelf of the coffee
table, on or about the 29th
day of September, 2014, as
property subject to forfeiture.

The 13 grams of marijuana
was seized at 3007 University Drive, Lawrence,
Douglas County, KS 66049,
in the living room on the
top of the coffee table, on
or about the 29th day of
September, 2014, as property subject to forfeiture.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN
that property herein described has been seized
for forfeiture and is pending forfeiture to the State
of Kansas, Lawrence /
Douglas County Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) pursuant to Kansas Standard
Asset Seizure and Forfeiture Act (KSASFA), K.S.A.
60-4101 et seq. If you have
not previously received a
Notice of Seizure for Forfeiture, this is notice pursuant to the Act.

The $9,000.00 in U.S. Currency was seized at 3007
University Drive, Lawrence, Douglas County, KS
66049, on or about the 29th
day of September, 2014, as
property subject to forfeiture as.

The conduct giving rise to
forfeiture and/or the violation of law alleged is: the
property is the proceeds
of and/or was used or intended to be used to facilitate felony violation(s) of
the Uniform Controlled
Substance Act and an
act(s), to-wit: On or about
the above date Michael
Joritz, at the above location violated the Uniform
Controlled Substance Act
as follows: K.S.A. 21-5705
(A4)(d2)(C) Distribution of
Marijuana of at least 450
grams but less than 30 kilograms.

The State pleads that presumption of forfeitability
exist pursuant to K.S.A.
60-4112(j), (k) and (s).

You may do any of the following:
(1) File a verified claim
with the District Court,
Plaintiff's Attorney and the
Seizing Agency contact
person; or
(2) Do nothing.
5. The law also provides
for provisional return of
the certain property under
certain circumstances including the posting of a
surety bond or a court
hearing on whether probable cause existed when the
property was seized. You
may wish to consult with
an attorney before deciding what is best for you.
However, if no petition or
claim is filed within thirty
(30) days of
mailing/publication of this
Notice, your interest in the
property described above
will be forfeited.

All such requests, petitions and claims shall
comply with the strict affidavit and informational requirements for claims as
set out in K.S.A. 60-4111.
Please be aware that it is a
crime to falsely verify an
ownership interest or
other information in any
request, petition or claim.
