ORDINANCE NO. 9027

AN ORDINANCE OF THE
CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS, REPEALING ORDINANCE 8951 AND AMENDING CHAPTER I, ARTICLE 2,
SECTION 201, OF THE CODE
OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS, 2013 EDITION, AND AMENDMENTS
THERETO, PERTAINING TO
THE SALARY OF CITY COMMISSIONERS AND THE
MAYOR OF THE CITY OF
LAWRENCE, KANSAS.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE
GOVERNING BODY OF THE
CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS: SECTION 1: Ordinance
8951 is hereby repealed in
its entirety, it being the intent of the Governing Body
that Section 2 of this Ordinance supersede it. SECTION 2: Chapter 1, Article 2,
Section 1-201 of the Code
of the City of Lawrence,
Kansas, 2013 Edition, and
amendments thereto, is
hereby enacted to read as
follows: 1-201 GOVERNING
BODY; VACANCIES; SALARIES. The Governing Body
of the City of Lawrence
shall consist of five (5)
Commissioners. Terms of
the Commissioners shall
be as provided by law. Vacancies on the Commission shall be filled by the
election of a successor by
a majority vote of the remaining Commissioners,
except that in the case of a
tie vote, the City Attorney
shall cast the deciding
vote. No distinction shall
be made in the titles and
duties among the Commissioners except as the Commission shall organize itself for business. As provided by Charter Ordinance No. 15, the salary of
City Commissioners shall
be established by ordinary
ordinance. Commissioners
shall receive an annual
salary of $9,000.00 and the
commissioner serving as
Mayor shall receive an annual salary of $10,000.00.
SECTION 3: If any section,
clause, sentence, or
phrase of this ordinance is
found to be unconstitutional or is otherwise held
invalid by any court of
competent jurisdiction, it
shall not affect the validity
of any remaining parts of
this ordinance. SECTION 4:
This ordinance shall take
effect and be in force after
its passage and publication as provided by law.

are each a child in need of
care as defined in the Kansas Code for the Care of
Children. If the children
are adjudged to be a child
in need of care and the
Court finds a parent to be
unfit, the Court may permanently terminate that
parent's parental rights.
The Court may also make
other orders including, but

parent to pay child support.

ORDINANCE 1028
AMENDED

AN ORDINANCE SUBMITTING THE QUESTION OF IMPOSING A RETAILERS'
SALES TAX TO THE ELECTORATE OF THE CITY.

WHEREAS
, K.S.A. 12-187 et
seq. provides that the City
of Eudora, Kansas, may impose certain retailers'
sales taxes after having
first submitted the proposition to, and having received the approval of, a
majority of the electors
voting thereon at an election called and held therefor.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT
ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY
OF EUDORA, KANSAS:

SECTION I
. Pursuant to
K.S.A. 12-187 and K.S.A.
12-189, that there be submitted to the electors of
the City of Eudora, at an
election to be held on April
7, 2015, the following question:

Shall a retailers' sales tax
in the amount of
three-quarters of one percent (0.75%) be levied in
the City of Eudora, Kansas,
for the purposes of generating revenue needed to
provide an effective level
of public services within
the City, to improve, construct, equip and maintain
the public fitness and
aquatic facilities including
but not limited to sports
parks, indoor and
outdoor/fitness trails, and
to provide funding for
other capital expenditures.

SECTION II . That the sales
tax, if approved, shall be
effective October 1, 2015.

SECTION III . That a copy
of this Ordinance be certified by the City Clerk of
the City of Eudora to the
Douglas County, Kansas,
election officer.

SECTION IV . That this Ordinance shall take effect
after its publication once
in the official City newspaper.

this 8th day of December,
2014, by a majority of all of
the members of the Governing Body of the City of
Eudora, Kansas.
