Ian Stepp remembers visiting his aunt’s house as a kid, where he’d play classic games like Duck Hunt and iterations of the Mario Brothers saga on the family’s trusty old Nintendo Entertainment System. Now pushing 30, Stepp is still a fan of the now-classic video games that in recent years have spawned a thriving culture and industry capitalizing on the nostalgia of grownups who coveted Nintendo game systems as kids in the 1980s and 90s.

Jon, the paper has not put the everyday crossword online for I don't know how long, and now this. I understand the economics of the computer age, but it seems to me that taking the crossword(s) offline is trivial. Do your advertisers know that this small piece of their cyberspace will be going? Hope you can find a way to keep, and even restore the crosswords.

I'm a big fan of the Merl Reagle crossword, both in your print version and on your site. In fact, if you stop carrying it, I'll probably stop reading Lawrence, as this is what draws me to it consistently every single week. (Of course while I'm here I do end up reading articles and viewing advertisements too...) Please keep it--and good luck!

Oh, no, no, no. I was disappointed when the Universal crossword was no longer on-line, but please, don't take the Merl Reagle crossword! If anything get rid of Sudoko. Merl's crosswords are both amusing and intellectually stimulating. If you start dropping stuff like this, you lose some of the few things that actually draw people from the more conventional web stuff.

I must confess, I have only come here for Merl Reagle's crossword puzzles for three reasons:
1) I am nowhere near Kansas City – live in Maryland, work in DC. 2) Mister Reagle is a genius constructor and his puzzles are far and away the best 3) This is the only crossword puzzle site not blocked by our filters.
Please continue to carry them.
How many pages do you need me to view?
