Why go there
Built on the back of the oil industry, Bartlesville offers a rich history of the American West. The town is known as the home of a former oil baron. It is also a town that knows how to celebrate the present with heritage, art and music festivals throughout the summer.
What to do there
Bartlesville was home of oil baron Frank Phillips and the former headquarters of Phillips Petroleum Co. Many of the town’s main attractions have ties to the wealthy family. The Phillips’ country estate has been turned into the Woolaroc Museum and Wildlife Preserve, offering a collection of Western art and giving visitors a chance to spot buffalo, elk, deer and prairie dogs on the 3,700 acre preserve. You can also visit the Frank Phillips Mansion and the Phillips Petroleum Company Museum.
Must see
Price Tower is among Bartlesville’s biggest attractions. Frank Lloyd Wright designed the 19-story building, which was his only skyscraper. Inside, you can take a tour or enjoy a drink at the Copper Bar with scenic views.
