    Great Atmosphere. Love those lights.
    Great spot for a romantic date or just a late night drink and a bite to eat. Their crispy wood-fired pizzas are always a tasty treat. However, recently the thing that I enjoyed most about Teller's has been its new weekend brunch buffet. Many options to pick from including an excellent selection of fresh fruits, breads, bruschetta, eggs, frittatas, meats, potatoes, pasta, salads. Even have an omelet station if the eggs on the buffet table aren't what you are looking for. Don't forget to save room for the bread pudding- I can't get enough of that saturday morning bread pudding. The atmosphere at brunch is much different than what you get in the evening. The lighting is supplied by sunlight from the many ceiling high winidows rather than the eclectic mix of lights at night. The bright natural lighting really helps set the tone for a great meal and a great day. During Brunch the service remains helpful and plentiful despite it being a buffet. Finally, a Brunch with superb atmosphere, food, and service has arrived to Lawrence. Hopefully, this one will stick around. Give the brunch a try- Everyone I have talked to has had a good experence.
    It is also very kid friendly at brunch for those of you out there leery to take your kids to Teller's.

    When I visited Lawrence 8 years ago, Teller's was the first restaurant I went to. The food was fabulous. In fact, we love Teller's so much, and its atmosphere is so cool (and romantic) that my husband proposed to me there and we went there for our "honeymoon" dinner and each year for the past 7 years we go to Teller's for our anniversary dinner. And, in these past 7 years we have never had a bad meal or bad service and their prices are right on.

    Teller's is a "trendy" place. It is also a VERY Liberal place. The food is okay, but overpriced. The atmosphere is "strange". You will be amazed how many people who eat there wear birkinstocks. Personally I like to see a little diversity in the restaraunts I eat at. This place is Democratic Headquarters. IF you are a conservative, this is NOT the place for you.

      If you are a hardcore conservative as you sound, Lawrence is not the place for you!!!! No wait it actually is, because it is an accepting town no matter what you are. It is sad that you are insinuating that you are so politically biased that you can't enjoy yourself in this place. If you are calling friendly and inviting strange then I would hate to see what you call normal. I come here to eat whether in my work clothes (I work in construction) or on a date night with my wife and I am treated the same and my service has always been stellar. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I am glad you seem to not like this place, because you sound like the person I would want to take upon myself to kindly leave.

    What is particularly impressive is the brick oven pizza, which is closer to the Italian real thing than the usual New York or Chicago styles. Pizza was invented in Naples, and the best in Italy requires certification to be classified as authentically Neapolitan. The only two varieties that are recognized for certification as the authentic classics are pizza marinara and pizza Margherita. I have never had pizza anywhere in the United States to match the certified authentic Neapolitan classic pizza. There are large differences in the quality and freshness of ingredients (especially the cheese and the tomatoes) and a substantial difference in the preparation of the much lighter Italian style. But Teller's Margherita pizza is excellent, even though not quite the same as the "real thing" in Naples. Regarding the other authentic style, pizza marinara, I've rarely even seen an imitation in the United States, where pizza marinara is nearly unknown. There is no cheese in that preparation. But if you request that Teller's prepare their Margherita pizza without cheese, you will be reminded of the pizza marinara that you may have had in Italy. For more details, see:

    3rd best restaurant in Lawrence? This has got to be a joke.

    Go there for drinks, appetizers. That's it. Anybody who thinks the food here is quality obviously has NEVER experienced REAL quality cuisine across the country.

    I don't think Teller's is horrible, but I would have to say the quality has gone down over the past few years. It is Lawrence, so you're not going to find an insanely priced, gourmet restaurant here- it would never float long term due to the ave. income here. Rumor has it that the new owner (think it's family owned and the son took over?) is rather stingy and has cut back on a few things. Perhaps this has something to do with the declining quality. The atmosphere is great, but what the f* was up with the paint falling off the walls. At least give us the illusion that you are a gourmet restaurant... thank god they took the disgustingly tacky trio of posterized 80's actors paintings off the wall (was this to cover up the waterfall of paint chips?).
    The service has always been excellent at Tellers, and it is still a really nice place to check out. But- if you are familiar with the menu a few years ago, you still long for it's selection versus what is available now. Perhaps this has to do with the tight pocketed owner. People don't get that they don't make more money that way and it's a really poor way to run an establishment. It always ends up biting them in the ass in the end.
    Consumer1, your review was hilarious in a very odd way. Sounds like you need to move to a new city. You should check out Texas. A very small town in Texas.

    Our dining experience at Teller's was, in a word, decadent. The service has really gone uphill, the menu changed this evening, and we had a wonderful time. Our server, Houston, was more than accommodating and the new items we ordered--hand-rolled raviolis--were far beyond the Lawrence palate. Teller's cuisine now complements the stunning ambience perfectly.

    Quite possibly the worst food in Lawrence served by a fine wait staff in a great room with lots of character. Good wine list. A nice place to have a drink, just go somewhere else to eat. When Teller's opened, they food wasn't nearly as bad. Within a year the two best items on the menu were dropped. The food quality spiraled downhill and stayed there. I don't have anything against this restaurant, but I am not going to lie. The food here is awful. Even the pizza is pretty bad.

    The first time my boyfriend and I ate dinner at Teller's our food was amazing...it was comparable to the food in Kansas City at a fine dining restraurant. However, the second time we went the food was far below average and we never plan to go back. If you want to pay the price of a high quality dinner...go somewhere else.

    I found it to be a little overpriced for the serving size, unless you get a high quality cut of meat but it will still cost you $25+ for the entree.

    The only award this place should win in "Best Of" is most inconsistent. Seared Tuna should not be cooked well done. That makes it a can of tuna.

    I recently ate at Teller's and was blown away. They have a new selection of appetizers that are just amazing. You can't find this anywhere else. We also enjoyed their terrific wine selection. If you like value, go on Wednesday night. They have a seperate list of high quality bottles for $14.00.

    We ate at Tellers this weekend for the first time. It was expensive, and the portion size of my husband's pork tenderloin was small. The atomosphere is romantic, and the service is pretty good (except that we did not get refills of our drinks very quickly). My dinner - the lemon-mustard roasted chicken - was really good, but I think I can get the same thing at Boston Market for about 1/4 of the price (though it is not quite as good as the Tellers roasted chicken). Bottom line: we will probably go back, but this place is not a favorite.

    Overpriced for the quality. The food wasn't wasn't hot and the portions were ridiculously small. Decor and menu are great, but food is much more important.

    My husband and I trully loved this place although over the year their menu has gotten smaller and the quality and the portions of the food has gone down we still like the place. Two years ago it was worth the 2 hour drive although we may be looking fo a new spot.

    I tried the lunch menu and it wasn't that impressive, but by all means go there for dinner. It's wonderful.

    We used to love Teller's. Went for lunch this week and it was disappointing, to say the least. Not much to choose from for lunch anymore. My compadre had the Beef and Talleggio Sandwich, which was a very thick piece of very chewy and very fatty beef on a roll. After taking it apart, he only found 3 or 4 bites edible. Did the waitress ask why he left a $9 sandwich on his plate? No. With so many other places to choose from, I doubt that we'll give Teller's another shot.

    I carried out two pizzas for dinner (the margherita & the sausage) and they were AWFUL, not to mention extremely over priced. Genovese's pizza is cheaper and doesn't taste like cold crap.

    I absolutely loved this place back in 2005 when I first tried it. Since then the menu has gone into a tailspin and does not offer the innovative and tasty dishes it used to have.

    Examples include: 1) The cheese plate does not offer the choices from the three tiers, 2) there is no beef fillet (used to be the best in town!), 3) the cuts of meat are quite low in quality, 4) the pasta is inconsistent, and 5) they have done away with their classic "Sunday bottle of wine" specials. Teller's is relying on its past reputation to support a menu that is lower in quality, overly simplistic, and overpriced in the name of keeping food costs low while charging the customer the same prices.

    Not worth the price. It's got an awesome atmosphere, and great history... and the food is OK.. but it's just too expensive for what you get.

    Actually, Teller's brunch hours/pricings have changed! Sunday Brunch (by far the best brunch in lawrence!) is served from 10-2 every Sunday with prices as follow:

    adults $14.95
    students/seniors (+65) $9.95
    kids (under 10) $1.95

    very family friendly (especially with those kids prices, woot!)

    They have custom order omelets, waffles, house-made bacon and sausage, and the best bread pudding I have ever had in my life! Not to mention every Sunday Teller's has $4 Mimosas, Bloody Marys, and Mojitos!

    You can be sure I'll be there every Sunday (you may see a basketball player or two as well!)

    OMG...the prices have skyrocketed. Too bad. Teller's was an affordable upscale place. Now it is just another high priced trendy eatery. Goodbye Teller's
