Out of the frying pan and into the fire!! It's been a long, long 16 months since the folks in Doris Henson ventured into this sometimes sordid scene. The former Lawrence band now in KC is beloved for accessible lyricism within straight-forward guitar (less rock and more) roll music. The frame is now less of a frame than bands from the Doris's past, read Proudentall and Giant's Chair.If you haven't heard of, much less seen, The People ... well, maybe it's about time. They've played in Lawrence semi-often, but maybe less so in the future -- having just signed to Astralwerks, they'll hopefully find equal embrace on the road.
