Afropunk is a 75 minute critically acclaimed film documenting aspects of the African-American experience in the punk and hardcore music scene. The movie includes footage of Matt Davis's band Ten Grand as well as interviews with Matt and many others. This is a rare and wonderful opportunity for Lawrence and area residents to witness, through the vision of a creative film maker, a tier of our social landscape that is often side-stepped or ignored all together. In addition to the screening, there will be a show immediately afterwards featuring the music of Matt's younger brother's band Ricky Fitts, as well as Volara and The Appleseed Cast.
