Austin's solo guitarist and tenor-banjoist SPOT has a style best described as "two-fisted picking" a la Richard Thompson, Chet Atkins or Leo Kottke, but seasoned with the sensibilities of Monk, Beefheart and Waits. SPOT is a veteran performer who is equally at home on festival stages, in nightclubs and in coffeehouses. He has toured and shared stages with such rock legends as Mike Watt, Sonic Youth, Bob Mould, Guitar Wolf, Cherry Valence, The Sadies, Eugene Chadbourne, Fugazi, and with more folk or "traditional" artists such as Alejandro Escovedo, Jen Hamel, Jean-Michel Veillon & Yvon Riou, Ed Miller and Michael Fracasso. SPOT is also well known for a legendary body of recordings (Minutemen, Husker Du, Big Boys, Descendents, etc.) he engineered and produced in the early 1980s.
