Dean of Liberal Arts and professor of English at Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Oklahoma, Sara Jane Richter is a published poet and American history and literature scholar.This presentation explores the role of women living on the Plains during the 1930's as the Dust Bowl ravaged the state with drought, dirt and depression. One of the worst disasters in American history, Richter illustrates how women were key in keeping the family and the community intact.
