The Straight Man

A Coming of Age Comedy by Local Playwright

Lawrence Arts Center

Produced by 16/16 Productions. Written by Danny Schluck. Directed by Chad Ostrom. Starring Brandon Delaney and Theresa Buchheister. This is the third production from this local theatre company and follows, 'Strange Fits of Passion' and 'Cock'. All three plays were written by Danny Schulck and directed by Chad Ostram, two high-school friends from Manahattan, Kansas.'The Straight Man' focuses on the problems faced by a young gay man struggling to figure out his sexuality in the face of all kinds of life-changing odds. These include the death of his father, a violent homophobic hate-crime, a bout of stress-induced amnesia, and a consequent affair with a woman who throws a new spanner in the works.Described by Schulck as a 'funny take on The Laramie Project...though The Laramie Project is not exactly funny'. We are curious and have little to go on yet, but we figure this production is definitely worth a look.
