World renown Los Angeles recording artist Ozomatli will headline the 2004 Fiesta in the Heartland Cinco de Mayo celebration. Ozomatli will bring their mix of Latin, rap, R&B, and funk to Kansas City.The Fiesta has grown to be one of the country's largest Cinco de Mayo celebrations.Headlining the musical shows on Friday night will be the legendary Los Angeles band, Ozomatli. Popular local acts, Grupo Muralla, an exciting salsa band, and the "supercharged funk machine," Karma, will also be on stage Friday night. On Saturday, the crowds will be entertained by the seven-piece Latin ensemble, Descarga KC; Blue River Ordonnance, and La Manana Band. Featured performances on Saturday night will include "ultimate new wave 80s" music from The Zeros, and "a taste of Tejano KC style" from Las Estrellas. Saturday will also feature dancing by Grupo Atotonilco and Latin Rhythm Dance Company. The event will be open to the public from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on May 7 and noon to 10 p.m. on May 8. Admission is free. Plenty of free, covered parking will be available adjacent to Crown Center.
