What will the "Beauty Slays the Beast" ladies think of next? The first-ever combination burlesque car wash and parking lot yard sale will be May 15 at the El Torreon Ball Room, 31st and Gillham Roads, Kansas City, Missouri. Double your fun: Get your ride scrubbed by the lovelies of the Rushin' Roulettes Burlesque Crew (and others) and pick up deals on great second-hand stuff. The yard sale will start at 7:00 a.m. in the East lot at the El Torreon Ball Room, and the car wash will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the North lot. As an added bonus, voter registration will be provided for both Missouri and Kansas during both events.Proceeds from the car wash and sale will go to mount Beauty Slays the Beast, an all-day, all-ages, street festival June 27 at Davey's Uptown Ramblers' Club, 3402 Main Street. Beauty Slays the Beast: KC Ladies Unite to Oust the Radical Right will feature music from over fifteen bands, art, film, a silent auction, raffle, speakers including Lewis Diuguid from the Kansas City Star, carnival-style games, food and beverage vendors, women-owned businesses, and organizational booths.
