If Lawrence's Harvest of the Arts Festival were running for president, it'd be on the independent ticket. Heck, it'd be on the libertarian ticket. In this its 13th year, the annual festival has been chumming the oceans of local filmmakers for experimental films, narrative films, documentaries and everything in between. Scheduled for demolition are films by middle school students on famous Kansans ("The Forgotten Legacy of Martin and Osa Johnson"), mature dramas about confused love ("Full Circle"), quests for the stars ("Upward Ho!") and lowly commentaries on the state of modern rock music ("Run Cletus Run. The film event is free, and for 5 bucks you can stay and watch a concert featuring The Sound You Say, The Esoteric, Ricky Fitts and Actors and Actresses. If you have a short film or video, be it experimental, narrative, documentary, anything at all, call 785.550.4336 or email blueplanet at skyenet.net.
