from the Olive:Hooray for blood and guts! Not real blood and guts, but the fuzzy stuffed-animal kind, of course! Julie Black, local emerging artist, will be installing her show, Dead Pets For Sale, in the Olive Gallery for the month of October. You haven't really seen her in many galleries because she usually searches for non-traditional spaces to display her work. But this "felty" gore cannot be left unseen. She explains the important role of opposing themes in her work, "This type of juxtaposition allows the grotesque to be shown as beautiful and vice versa." The opening reception will be held on Saturday, October 2, from 6-10pm with music provided by DJ Moped King. And Miss Cleo LeMaster will be featured in the Kid's Corner.
