Cypress String Quartet

Lied Center

Praised for its passionate renditions of classical works and its commitment to contemporary composers, this talented ensemble has performed to great acclaim. "They are one of the real rising-star quartets in the country whose members are under the age of 40," says composer Dan Coleman, who has been commissioned by the Lied Centers of Kansas and Nebraska to compose a new work to commemorate the sesquicentennial of the Kansas-Nebraska Act. The program will feature the world premiere of this piece as well as Haydn's Op. 33, No. 5; Griffes' Two Sketches on Native American Themes; and Beethoven's Op. 59, No. 3.
