The Lawrence (Kansas) Mountain Bike Club is hosting a ShinDig, Saturday, September 4 (Memorial Day weekend) at Clinton Lake Outlet Park. The event is open to the public. The event, which features guided bike rides, bands, food and drink, and frivolous fun, is the primary club fund-raiser that supports continuation of activities such as Bigs on Bikes, a cooperation with Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Douglas County, and equipment needs for the on-going mowing and maintenance of the North Lawrence River Trails. The ShinDig events begin with a 25 mile road ride starting at 9am. A mountain bike ride through the Clinton Lake trails starts at 10am, and at 11, a family fun ride will follow the paved path out and back. All rides begin at the Outlet park and require helmets. Prices for the rides are $5.00 single, and $10.00 for a family. The afternoon activities, including food and beverage vendors, bands, and games, are open from noon to 7pm. Entry to the Outlet park is free.
