Appleseed Cast / Dead Girls Ruin Everything
When: Friday, April 8, 2005, 10 p.m.
Where: The Jackpot Music Hall, 943 Mass., Lawrence
Cost: $6
Age limit: 18+
Categories: Rock
Description: Anyone still applying the "emo" tag to The Appleseed Cast is missing the point of this sonically adventurous band. The Cast's "Low Level Owl" double-disc set caught critics' and listeners' ears with ambitious soundscapes, cascading guitars and hypnotic tape loops, while "Two Conversations" (2003, Tiger Style) streamlined the band's sound to a more concise, U2-caliber cacophony. Lead singer Chris Crisci has devoted most of his recent efforts to the acoustically oriented Old Canes, but look for the band to reemerge in 2005 with a new drummer (Nathan Richardson of The Casket Lottery) and maybe even a new album.
