Dogs Die In Hot Cars / Phoenix / Joy Zipper

Granada

Echoes of XTC, The Talking Heads and Squeeze pervade the peppy pop of Scotland's Dogs Die in Hot Cars. The band's bouncy ska-inflected rhythms bridge the gap between the discos and the rock stages a la No Doubt, with a commercial vibe reminiscent of '80s one-hit wonders. Openers Phoenix hail from France and sport a brand of '80s-informed synth rock similar to Air. Long Island's Joy Zipper make sugary indie pop tunes with plenty of Brian Wilson-style harmonies that open up to expose dark, creepy lyrics.

Where the hell is Lawrence? Do you have some sort of policy against listing the State in which you live?

Ever thought about bringing convergence to Portland? Go ahead, fucking guess which one.

These guys(and gal) stopped by the bowl last night to throw a few games. Great group of people. If they are as good music wise as they are nice people definitely a show worth seeing.
