The Lawrence Photo Alliance was founded in 1984 to serve as a network for sharing interests in skills and tips, to organize exhibits and to promote the art of photography.Monthly meetings (at the Lawrence Arts Center) include informative presentations by local artists and technical experts in all areas of photography. Recent topics have included a demonstration of hand coloring photographs, a discussion of large format cameras, presentations on framing and mounting, studio lighting, toning, and computers and photography. Occassionaly the LPA organizes field trips to explore new areas to photograph, such as the Baker Wetlands, the Z-Bar Ranch and the train station in Baldwin. Group Exhibitions are mounted several times a year. Membership is open to all.
