Grammy-nominated Lawrence/KC reggae group Blue Riddim Band will be reuniting for a special performance at Liberty Hall. Known for their old-school reggae and rocksteady mashups, Blue Riddim harkens back to the sound of late-'60s labels like Studio One and Treasure Isle. The group was a crucial proponent of reggae as the genre was gaining popularity across America in the late 1970's, playing as many at 280 shows a year and selling out hometown venues. A 1979 opening slot for Bob Marley and the Wailers at Hoch Auditorium impressed so much that members of the Wailers joined Blue Riddim the next night for a show at the Uptown Theater (Bob, as fate would have it, was sick). For this performance, the Blue Riddim Band will consist of Steve "Duck" McLane, Jack "Blacky" Blackett, Scotty Korchak, Andy Myers, Todd "Bebop" Burd, Joe Miquelon, Jeff Porter, Jack Lightfoot and Jimmy Becker.
