There's something irresistible about a husband and wife string band that seems to have been to hell and back for their art. Mike West and Katie Euliss (a.k.a. Truckstop Honeymoon) recently relocated to Lawrence after the New Orleans home was destroyed along with the rest of the 9th Ward by Hurricane Katrina (read our story). The couple are mobile entertainers of the old-time ilk, brandishing banjo, guitar and wash-tub bass to tell stories of adultery, pot seeds, big government and whatever else makes for a whoopin' good time. The band's attention-grabbing performances have made them a perennial favorite in the campground stages of the Walnut Valley Festival.
