Scholarship Halls may not be known as local music hubs, but the boys of KU's Pearson Hall are doing their part to change that. The hall's seventh annual "Pearson Lawn Rock-a-Thon" will feature local bands Koufax, Marry Me Moses, The Midday Ramblers and Adam's Eve. All are invited to the event, which will be held at 1426 Alumni Place (in front of Pearson Hall) beginning at 3pm and concluding around nightfall. Free Coke products will be provided.About the headliner:The ghost of Joe Jackson permeates Koufax's '70s-chic pop, which relies heavily on judicious keyboard applications and plenty of huge, open-mouth hooks. The band signed to Vagrant Records when they caught the attention of The Get Up Kids, which in turn loaned them drummer Ryan Pope and bassist Rob Pope for sessions at The Kids' Black Lodge Studios in Eudora. The new chemistry inspired lead songwriter Robert Suchan to relocate to Lawrence, where the band has thrived for the past year and now looks to support its glorious new album "Hard Times Are in Fashion."
