Cindy Woolf hails from Arkansas and you can hear it in her voice: a sweet, lilting bluegrass-informed voice that's just a stone's throw from Dolly Parton. Upon relocating to Springfield (Mo.) for college, Woolf befriended songwriter/producer Mark Bilyeu (of Big Smith) and cut a debut folk record called "Simple and Few." Bilyeu's new album "First One Free" finds him moving from the acoustic hillbilly-bluegrass sound of Big Smith to country-rock with electric guitars. Opener Kasey Rausch is a widely respected Kansas City songwriter who delves into country, folk and bluegrass.
