"Jesus Christ Superstar"

As performed by Lawrence musicians

When: Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, 7 p.m.

Where: The Bottleneck, 737 N.H., Lawrence

Cost: $5

Age limit: All ages

Categories: Rock

Description: Tickets available before the shows at the Love Garden.
4 shows:
Feb 25th, Bottleneck (Two shows, 7 pm all ages and 11 pm 21+).
March 4th, the Record Bar in Westport (Two shows, 7pm all ages and 11pm 21+)

Music from the original 1970 album “Jesus Christ Superstar” will be performed by a 12-piece group made up members of some of Lawrence’s finest bands, including:

Split Lip Rayfield, the Midday Ramblers, The What Gives, Drakkar Sauna, The She-bangs, and Marry Me Moses. Special Guests will include Arthur Dodge as King Herod and John Cutler as Simon.

These performances are the culmination of more than a year of rehearsals. The performance is drawn from the two-record set released in 1970 that featured Ian Gillan from Deep Purple as Jesus, Yvonne Elliman as Mary Magdalene, and Murray Head as Judas. This will be a rock show, not a theatrical performance.

All proceeds from the Lawrence shows will benefit the LINK Kitchen of Lawrence and the Lawrence Humane Society. The Kansas City show will also be a benefit for an as yet undetermined charity.

Just a clarification: we printed 100 advance tickets for the 7 pm, which we've sold, but the Bottleneck has room for 450, so if you didn't get tickets in advance that doesn't mean it's sold out!

Advance ticket sales are done as of noon today (Saturday). See you there!

I saw this show tonight and the group absolutely ROCKS! The $5 cost was a tremendous bargain for the quantity and quality of entertainment provided. Absolutely fantastic!
