In January, the Olive will debut our upstairs, extended gallery space with our largest show yet! Large-scale paintings by Sadie Weis will be on display throughout the month. Her work is abstract expressionist in style with juicy colors and raw, energetic line work. She says, "The aggressive manner with which I paint is of equal importance to the work itself. The act can be described as a dance, where I communicate my sensations on the surface through line work, color, and movement. This fabricated atmosphere becomes a striking distortion of my visual and mental environment." Sadie is a recent graduate from the University of Kansas, and she currently lives and works in New York City. The Opening Reception will be held on Saturday, January 7th, from 6-10p.m. A musical guest, to be announced, will perform this evening as well. Sadie's brother, Colin Weis, will have his own artwork displayed in the Kid's Corner. The Olive's hours are 11a.m.-6p.m. daily.Artist Biography:Sadie Weis was born in 1981, in Salina, Kansas.
