Sundance fund-raiser: "First Date"

For the first time, a Kansas City director has been invited to show his film at the Sundance Film Festival, the country's trend-setting showcase for independent cinema.The director is Gary Huggins and the film is FIRST DATE. It was shot on location in Kansas City, Kansas and will be part of the festival's 29th annual lineup starting January 19 in Park City, Utah. To give some idea of the competition, 20 narrative short films were chosen for the festival out of 4,311 submissions. Among the other directors in this category are Gwyneth Paltrow and Bob Odenkirk (MR.SHOW).To get FIRST DATE to Sundance there will be a fundraiser on Friday, January 13th from 6-9 PM at the Record Bar, 1020 Westport Rd. Free food and live music by Michael Stover and Sterling Holman will be provided; cover is $6. Plus, tickets will be available to a private screening of FIRST DATE at Screenland on February 22.
