The Lawrence Youth Ballet Company presents "Classics II Tales from Hans Christian Andersen" on Saturday and Sunday, March 11 and 12 at 2:00 pm in the Lawrence Arts Center Theater. Artistic director and choreographer Deborah Bettinger and twenty-four young dancers will present the afternoon concert.The afternoon concert will consist of excerpts from The Snow Queen, the pilot performance for the full scale production next December 2006. Original music has been created by Ric Averill for these excerpts: "The Robber Girl" and "Gerda, Learns of Kai". In addition, the company will dance the tale of "The Ugly Duckling" with music by Addison. Also included on the program is "What the Moon Saw", another Andersen favorite, choreographed to music by Michael Nyman. "What the Moon Saw" will include soldiers, souls, painters, angel, stork and flowers, just to name a few.Tickets to the concert are just $4.50 for all ages and are available by phone at (785)843-2787 or at the Lawrence Arts Center, 940 New Hampshire.
