Murder By Death

Despite their brutal namesake, Indiana's Murder By Death is actually quite listener-friendly. Like Cursive - the band's closest musical cousin - MBD features a cello to round out its rock-tastic repetoire. Nick Cave would enjoy the group's latest full-length "In Bocca Al Lupo," a stark collection of maudlin, minor-key pub songs. Lyrically, the group tends toward the macabre and the concept-oriented: its last record "Who Will Survive and What Will be Left of Them?" told the story of the Devil's arrival in a Mexican village. Openers Metal Hearts hail from Baltimore and dabble with drum machines, strings and samples to create an array of noises within art-damaged rock structures.
