Jamie Lidell, a former laptop artist turned soul slinger with a laptop slides into Lawrence tonight to perform material from his sophomore album "Multiply." The album has garnered high praise for its funky jams, soul steppers, sparkling production and strong R&B vocal performance. The album evokes artists like Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and Prince. Lidell is one half of the group Super Collider with techno artist Christian Vogel and released his own solo IDM work before vaulting in front of the laptop to display his voice. Expect a one-man soul/hip motivator replete with decks, gear, and leopard-print smoking jacket.On tour with Lidell in the midwest is Snax, a.k.a. Paul Bonomo, who augments the booty-shaking aspect of the show. DJ Snax has worked and performed with Khan, Foetus and Peaches and is on tour in support of his album "Love Pollution."
