The Brent Berry Band

Jazzhaus

Singer/guitarist Brent Berry cut his teeth in the Lawrence music scene circa 2000 with backing from members of local horn band The Secondhands. His debut album "Inland" offered up a seamless platter of roots reggae, rocksteady, and folk music. As entertainers for some of Lawrence's chillest parties, Berry and his "Roots Crew" became one of the top local draws before he split for Taos, New Mexico. A girlfriend in college, however, inspired Berry to return to our fair town for a spell. He quickly assembled a group of local pickers to accompany more late nights of drinkin' and dancin'. Rumored to be light on the reggae and heavy on the folk/bluegrass/blues, audiences can expect a veteran blend of originals and standards.

The Secondhands were awesome. Barry joined and sounded good, but then abandoned them. And Kansas, for that matter. He skirted inconspicuously in the night with "Roots Crew" property in the middle of their tour and his lease with other bandmates. Welcome back, though. And what does that say about you all. I'm for a more original sound in this town.
