Thanksgiving Extravaganza
with Ad Astra Per Aspera and food by Kendra Herring
When: Friday, Nov. 17, 2006, 7 p.m.
Where: Love Garden, 936 1/2 Massachusetts, Lawrence
Cost: Free - $6
Age limit: All ages
Categories: Rock
Description: Local artist culinaire Kendra Herring is working up a Thanksgiving-themed meal as an appetizer to a in-store show by Lawrence's experimentally tinged rock combo, Ad Astra Per Aspera.
It is FREE to enter the Love Garden, the 7 p.m. meal will cost $6 per person (available to approx. the first 60). Tentatively the menu is a hearty soup, salad, fancy bread and cider. Ad Astra per Aspera is playing at 8:30 p.m.
Anyone who has heard Ad Astra recognizes the sound immediately: a frantic demonstration of noise and melody clashing joyously and wholeheartedly. Points of reference abound (Sonic Youth, Blonde Redhead), but Ad Astra's best attribute is its ability to sound more and more like itself.
