Description: Pink Nasty is the moniker of Wichita native Sara Beck (currently living in Austin), an endearing songstress who has largely split her time between blue-tinged and sometimes brooding ballads and countried-up rock/rocked-up country in the vein of The Danny Pound Band (whose members are frequent collaborators). Her latest album "Mold the Gold" has that trademark Nasty sound, but also has some straight up radio-ready hits of a fuzzed out rock 'n' roll ilk a la modern pop faves like Spoon. Her Nastiness earned a place in one of Will Oldham's recent touring ensembles; in turn, the Bonnie Prince contributed vocals to Pinky's latest LP.
With 10 years experience in the local music scene, Danny Pound is the kind of songwriter that we should feel lucky to call our own. Since splitting with indie outfit Vitreous Humor, Pound has been reincarnated as the ghost of Gram Parsons — a bar-burning troubadour with a country love affair and a rock and roll heart. Equally entertaining as a solo performer and with The Danny Pound Band, Pound splits his time between melancholy originals and would-be-hits lost in the backroads of the Nashville machine.
Opener Fourth of July is the ongoing project of the brothers Hangauer and friends featuring a countrified folk palette that at times recalls Bright Eyes, Papa M or Songs: Ohia.
