Grayson Capps / Truckstop Honeymoon

Gaslight Gardens

New Orleans singer-songwriter Grayson Capps will appear live in Lawrence on Tuesday, October 10th at The Gaslight Tavern on a double bill with Truckstop Honeymoon. Touring with his band The Stumpknockers, they're supporting Capps' brand new album "Wail & Ride" on HYENA Records.Grayson Capps had first broke into the national spotlight with four songs on the soundtrack to the film "A Love Song For Bobby Long" (starring JohnTravolta and Scarlett Johansson). The heightened visibility created by the movie led to non-stop touring matched by electrifying performances around the country often comprising three-hour marathon sets of Southern rock debauchery and Americana soul-stirring epiphany. Tragedy also played its part. When Hurricane Katrina hit in August 2005,Capps was driven from his home in New Orleans where he'd lived for the previous 20 years. He responded by keeping a stiff upper lip and his eye on the road. Mike West and Katie Euliss (a.k.a. TH) recently relocated to Lawrence after their New Orleans home was destroyed along with the rest of the 9th Ward by Hurricane Katrina. The couple serves up mobile entertainment of the old-time ilk, brandishing banjo, fiddle, guitar and wash-tub bass to tell stories of love and sin, pot seeds, big government, oil refineries and whatever else makes for a whoopin' good time.
