Detroit Cobras

with Taylor Hollingsworth and The Spidereaters / King Kahn and BBQ

Record Bar

Although the phrase "original cover band" sounds like an oxymoron, it fits The Detroit Cobras. While most cover bands attempt to re-create the originals, The Cobras take material from the rich vaults of Motown, soul and 50's rock & roll and build fresh versions. The result is a sound that's reminiscent of rock & roll roots, yet still full of innovation and garage rock energy. Raspy throated vocalist Rachel Nagy heads up the fiercely entertaining fivesome, which earned rave reviews on its most recent release "Baby." Opener King Kahn and BBQ earned the distinction of favorite record of 2005 from Kief's Downtown Music honcho Steve Wilson.
