(From the gallery:) You may recognize Lyman's work from a two-man show at the Olive in 2004 which exhibited playful drawings of famous TV doctors. Now Sean is addressing issues of identity, its preconceived ideals, and its questionable authenticity. He will display self-portraits in this show that are anything but straight-forward. Sean has shot these large graphite-on-paper portraits with a shot gun and burned into the image and manipulated his own and other subjects' features. His tremendous talent to render the human features realistically certainly blurs the edges of reality. The show runs through September 22nd.
