Besides having the chance to see the band that actually wrote "Low Rider" (War, that is), microbrew imbibers will be treated to a healthy all-day lineup of local folk, funk, bluegrass and rock bands. Kirk Rundstrom's Grain and Demise should prove to be a major draw, as should Winfield favorites Jeff and Vida. Keller Williams headlines Saturday night with his loopy one-man-jam-band act. Bass guitar idol Oteil Burbridge will also play a late-night Friday set at the Granada that will be free to all Brewgrass ticket holders.

Half hour sets on the Gaslight stage? That's crazy! Jeff & Vida get only 30 minutes?!! Egads. Grain & Demise too? Simply mind-boggling.

The sets weren't 30 minutes afterall! Yay! Everything I saw tonight (Friday) was fantastic! Kasey Rausch, Konza Swamp Band, Laura Love, War, DeWayn Brothers, Grain & Demise....AND it was a great night to be outside listening to music. I'm a happy girl. Now, let's hope Saturday's weather cooperates, 'cause I'm ready for more!

Yeah, these set lists are just guidelines -- last night was all over the place time-wise. Best bet is to get there and check around each stage for the revisions; some local bands have been totally rearranged, but the setup is good enough that you can hear all three stages well enough to know who's starting across the park.

All of the 16 oz beers are FIVE BUCKS, though, FYI. There were Jilly's bartenders selling $5 electric lemonade as well...

As one performer said last night, "Nobody said it was Free Brew Grass"

Yep, I saw that $5 lemonade. I did think that was ridiculous, as was $5 beer, but I've also been to enough festivals to know how things are priced. It is what it is. For me, it wasn't about drinking the beer, it was about the music. And, I was very, very pleased with everything I heard! Last night I came home feeling drunk anyway just from the tunes & the experience.

Today was a spectacular day. Just as good as last night. And to think I almost didn't go today because the weather was cruddy here (Topeka)! But I really wanted to see Jeff & Vida so I decided I'd go just for them & come back if I got soggy. What a surprise to get there & find beautiful, glorious skies! I unfortunately missed Danny Pound, but caught a bit of Louise Taylor. Very nice tunes to relax in my chair & stare at the sky to. Jeff & Vida were great, but I knew I'd love them! The best treat of the night was Karen Savoca & Pete Heitzman. I had no idea what to expect from them. They were great!!! I could have listened to them all night! I was very disappointed about Honytonk Homeslice...they were the other main draw for me today. I was going to come home, but decided I'd stay & check out Keller Williams. I've missed him at Waka, so I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Figured I could give him 30 minutes....2 hours later, this sweaty girl was a convert ;O). Pretty cool stuff!

It was a great diverse music festival! Oh! And I had a great elk burger, pork dog, and got a great shirt from Third Planet too. I've had a stellar weekend. (I did drink ONE beer too *wink*)
