Fans of The Decemberists should warm up to the seafaring indie rock spirit of The Extraordinaires. The Philadelphia group recently completed "Ribbons of War," a 14-song narrative that tells the tragic love story between The Captain, a bold and daring explorer, and Annelies, a young and beautiful aviatrix. Packaged as a book with accompanying lyrics and artwork, the music lives up to its own billing: artful, warm, homemade indie rock in the vein of Neutral Milk Hotel or Ben Kweller.
