He's not yet a household name, but Brooklyn's Talib Kweli is one of the most respected fixtures in socio-political hip-hop. Best known for his affiliations with fellow rapper Mos Def (the two worked together under the moniker Black Star) and Dave Chappelle (Talib made appearances on Dave's Comedy Central show and in his movie, Block Party), Talib has also worked with top producers Kanye West, Just Blaze, and Hi-Tek. After his 2002 release "Quality" and 2004's "The Beautiful Struggle" received some commercial success, Talib formed Blacksmith Records in tandem with respected artists like Jean Grae and Strong Arm Steady. Two singles from Kweli's upcoming solo effort "Ear Drum" -- "Listen!!" and "More or Less" -- have already made waves in advance of the album's April 10 release. Doors at 7 p.m., show at 8.
