Yo La Tengo

with Times New Viking

Granada

With 15 albums in 20 years, Yo La Tengo has enough street cred to actually get away with releasing a record titled "I Am Not Afraid of You and I Will Beat Your Ass" (hilariously mock subtitled "The Florence Nightingale Story" in a review by comedian David Cross). The band has stayed light on its feet both lyrically and musically, exhibiting a shape-shifting fervor rivaled only by other indie rock mainstays like Stereolab and Sonic Youth. The band's core trio of Ira Kaplan, Georgia Hubley and James McNew embrace Latin and jazz rhythms to spice up pop structures, jamming out blissfully without ever crossing into "jam band" territory.
