SEED Artists' Lecture Series with painter Paul Hotvedt
When: Wednesday, April 25, 2007, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: 4-1-1 Studio, 411 E. Ninth, Lawrence
Cost: Free
Age limit: All ages
Categories: Lectures | Art
Description: Painter Paul Hotvedt will address the idea of copying in art, with a general look toward the commercial gallery climate. His talk is inspired, in part, by something called the "anxiety of influence," from the relative slowness and cumbersome qualities of painting to the inescapability of influence and
copying in contemporary culture and the rapidity with which it happens.
SEED is a monthly lecture series at 4-1-1 Artspace. A gathering place for everyone interested in local, contemporary art, SEED is free and open to the public. Short, 30- to 40-minute lectures are followed with Q&A and time to meet other people interested in the Lawrence art scene.
