Acoustic blues duo featuring Lawrence's Billy Ebeling.About Terry Ebeling, via Billy: Terry Ebeling plays harmonica guitar and sings, performing original songs, and a fascinating assortment of covers of other songwriters' songs, his professional presentation and powerful music combine to provide the audience with a magical experience.Terry Ebeling's style of blues/roots/rock has proved popular with audiences around the world for over twenty years. In the late 70Â's, Terry performed in bars and cafes in Germany for a year, then joined a blues band in Kansas called Blue Plate Special. In 1980, with his two brothers, (as The Ebeling Brothers) moved to Phoenix Arizona where they played any venue they could find, and began perfecting their busking act. Terry and his brother Billy travelled to Europe when they launched the ÂContinental Drift tourÂ- in 1982. In 1987, Terry again rejoined his brothers in Auckland New Zealand where they did support for Brownie Mcghee, Robert Junior Lockwood, and played an after- concert for Pink Floyd at David GilmourÂ's special request.Terry returned to the States, where he lived in Austin Texas, enjoying success in the venues in and around Austin, the Âlive music capital of the worldÂ-, where a highlight was playing harmonica with Willie Nelson. The Ebeling Brothers have released four albums together, including the EMI release ÂAll You Can EatÂ-, and their latest, ÂWrong Side of the PlanetÂ-, Terry has released an album with his acoustic Texas band, Hunker Down, and is now working on a solo project.The Ebeling Brothers did support for part of the Little River BandÂ's New Zealand tour in 1997.Other acts Terry has done support for include: Lyle Lovett, Nanci Griffith, Butch Hancock, Midge Marsden, Wayne Toupps, Jimmy Dale Gilmore, Shake Russell, Robert Earl Keen, Chicago Smokeshop, Jason and the Nashville Scorchers.After living in Queenstown for five years, where he further thrilled audiences with his solo shows, and with the Ebeling Brothers, Terry moved to Dunedin in January 2000. Fitting quickly into the local music scene, he's now a part of the Whirling Eddies, and the Oxocubans big band. He also is receiving rave reviews for solo shows he's done at the Arc cafe, Dicey O'Riley's, and for accompanying Lorena Harding in a Festival of the Arts programme.
