Wood Roses / Pendergast

Replay Lounge

Wood Roses consist of songs written and sung by longtime Lawrence mover Mike McCoy (Cher U.K., Black Rabbits), with Dan Cook (Bubble Boys) on bass, Bill Colburn (the Eudoras) on drums and Michael "DJ Clem" Stover (Wylde Chipmunk and the Cuddly Poos) on mandolin and pedal steel. The band's jocular alt-country showstoppers - one of which encourages audiences to "always put your penis on the line" - alternately recall a mirthful Old 97s or a grumpy Alejandro Escovedo. The four-piece is currently recording their first full-length record with Chubby Smith and is gunning for a winter/spring release.
