Joseph Israel is a red-headed Rasta by way of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Though he grew up in the Bible belt and came from a Christian background, he was influenced at an early age by the reggae music his parents favored. Joseph and his band traveled to the legendary Tuff Gong Studios in Kingston, Jamaica to record their debut record "Gone Are The Days" for the Universal/New Door label. The group has collaborated with Luciano and Matisyahu along the way and has the chops of seasoned roots-reggae interpreters. Joseph Israel will be performing two shows in Lawrence on February 8. At 7pm, he'll appear with The Jerusalem Band for an all-ages show at The Bottleneck. Tickets are $13 in advance, $15 day of show. At 11pm, Israel plays a solo 21+ acoustic after-party set at Gaslight Tavern. Tickets for this performance are $12.
